In as Blogger. Out as Shopper.

Hey all,

Been a while since I've posted anything on the blog. Anyway, here's an update from sometime last week. Quite a perky day, this one was! Woke up early, soaked in the soothing aura of dawn, a great workout session, work was smooth as well, and a lot of other things. During my lunch hour, I managed a quick trip to High Street Phoenix to check out the A/W 14 collection at the Wills Lifestyle store. It’s always amazing to have such colourful days, you know!

Talking of the collection launch at Wills Lifestyle, it was the perfect thing to go for during a break from work. It included a fun activity...something we fashion communicators love doing – styling! I was browsing through pieces to put together a ‘Look of the Season', when I came across this really pretty, almost dreamy knit. Oh, it was love at first sight! I knew it just HAD TO BE part of the look. Teamed it up with trousers, a shirt from the men's section, and a belt and bag to go!

Gear up for the weekend by going a little easy on formals. This is perfect Friday wear. Rolled up sleeves really ease up the look and the belt is worn over the shirt to simply add to the silhouette. The only little trick to nail this look is to maintain a common tone with the top and bottom (and your bag and accessories), and let the shirt be another colour. The belt and shoes should ideally match, but it's really up to you...experiment a bit if you feel like. :)

By the time I put the look together, I was too emotionally attached to the top and couldn't let go. Et voila, I bought it! Come winter and I'll be seen wearing this one...maybe every second day! *so in love* I also loved the new additions to their formal wear colour palette and the fluid fabrics from the Wills Sport collection. Oh, and certain pieces from Wills clublife, you'd be stupid to not buy! What are you waiting for? Go, shop! ;)

Until next time!

Valentine's Day Countdown # 2 - At the boyfriend's

Hey all,

If you're not doing a dinner or a movie date, or spending the day out together, you probably will have plans to just spend time indoors. You can't obviously dress up like a diva-off-the-red-carpet for him. What you can do, though, is pick one of these looks-

Froufrou Fun!
Colour-block in a vest and a high-waisted froufrou skirt combo. Team it up with flats to tone it down. No accessories needed, just carry an itsy bitsy cutesy sling to go.

Don't own a froufrou? Well, simply wear two or three flowy skirts of different lengths (shorter one over the longer one) on top of one another to make them look like one!

Shirt + Shorts
Pick a slightly oversized shirt, roll up the sleeves to 3/4th and tuck the shirt in. Ankle length socks and oxfords, delicate pieces like tiny studs and a wired ring, et voila!
Cut out tee + Denims
Get one or simply DIY it...takes as little as 5 minutes! Cut the neck of a grey tee into a boat and wear it such that it falls off one shoulder or make little cut-out designs all over the back. Team it up with a neon inner, preferable a haltered one. Opt for a tee that is one or two sizes bigger or one that is really loose and pair it up with skin fit denims or ones in a pencil fit.

Until next time!

POTD #6 - Casual Fridays Look

Hey all,
Here's what caught my attention on a Casual Friday at work...the classic combination of  checks, denims and Converse! Since I grew up being heavily influenced by my brother, and tomboyish for a long time, naturally, comfort clothing is my all-time favourite! To me, fashion is comfort + glam in an 80:20 ratio.

What I LOVE about this look is that it's so easy, yet the tartan checks, the matching footwear (and blue denim, to break the monotony!) make it very stylish!

Try experimenting a little with accessories as well...

With a Neck Piece
If you plan on wearing a basic statement neck piece, make sure to leave the first two buttons open as the collar and the neck piece might look like there's too much happening there. A better way to wear it would be with the collar folded inward.

With a Cuff
Fold up the sleeves to just above the elbow and team it up with a non-blingy cuff.

With a Bracelet
Roll up your sleeve just a couple inches. Charmed bracelets work like a charm, except if you're in a pure, corporate environment, in which case you should stick to delicate pieces as much as possible.

With Earrings
Depending on where you work, choose between hoops and cutesy studs. Avoid danglers or tops.

That's all for now. Until next time!
