Dear men, flatter yourselves!

Hello people!

This one's for you men. I personally love how you generally don't care about how you look, how you don't take fashion too seriously, and hence NEVER overdo fashion (except for those in the industry). I wish we women could pull it off so well, so confidently, like you!

It is nice to see how most of the times men are VERY comfortable even in something that may not necessarily suit them. But it's that very I-don't-give-a-damn attitude that makes men NOT look awkward or a fashion disaster. However, this post is for those times when men do think twice about how they look before stepping out. The safest way is to follow your body type. According to Hubert de Givenchy an outfit should follow the silhouette, not the other way round. So let us look at what suits who-

TOO FAT?
Lose weight! Fat isn't healthy. And in the meantime, stay away from anything too loose or too tight.
  • Make dark colors and vertical stripes your best friends.
  • Bottoms should ALWAYS be in dark colors, if you want to wear lighter colors, keep that strictly to shirts/tees.
  • Avoid high waists. The paunch looks more decent when showing on a shirt than on pants.
  • Stand tall. Your posture can make or break your outfit.
  • Shave, moisturize, smile. Divert the attention away from your body, towards your face. Yes, a smile can make a HUGE difference, even on men!

TOO BROAD?

So you're not fat, but broad? Never mind, just think length!

  • Vertical stripes
  • V-necks (not douche bag necks, just V!)
  • Wear big checks, it'll take away the attention
  • Layering can work, just keep in mind, avoid solids on shirts, and with jackets, choose fitted ones over the over-sized ones.
  • Avoid Polos, they'll make you look broader

TOO THIN?

Anything that makes you stop looking like a hanger!

  • Avoid vertical stripes, choose thin horizontal stripes.
  • Polo's in pique fabric are a good option.
  • Layering works very well, but avoid V-necks, with or even without a shirt/jacket.
  • Avoid tees that are too long or too loose. Instead go in for fairly fitted or slightly loose one's that end above the base of your hip.
  • Wear color, mid to low waist bottoms, and accessorize- big dialed watches, wrist bands etc. Cargo pants help adding an illusion of weight.

TOO TALL?

That's a problem if you're too tall and lanky or tall and broad/huge
  • If you're lanky, layer up! If you're huge-looking, avoid layering.
  • Lanky- Horizontal stripes are good. Can experiment with colors.
  • Huge-looking- Go in for checks over stripes, big checks. Should mostly wear dark colors.
  • Avoid too high a waist, mid/low waists work well.
  • Trench coats, long jackets, ankle length boots are a few things a tall person can pull off well.

TOO SHORT?
If you're short, wear mid-waist as too low a waist can make you look like dwarf-legs and too high a waist could make you look like a kid-in-his-dad's-pants.

  • If you're short because your legs are short while your torso's big, high-waist bottoms won't look bad. But in other cases, strictly stick to mid waist.
  • Medium to small checks work best on formals. Vertical stripes work well too. Slim fits work best. Roll up the sleeves, as full sleeves work better on tall people, and rolled up sleeves are more appealing than half sleeved shirts.
  • Long shorts, safari shorts, 3/4ths work well as they make you look taller.
  • Avoid sandals. Flip-flops or closed shoes (not too bulky looking) work well.
  • Avoid loose and long tees. Instead go in for a perfectly fitted outfit and a clean look with minimum accessorizing.

TOO HOT?
Minimalism is the key. Avoid attracting attention through your outfit, your face and body does already!
;)
  • Dress understated for occasions, else you might risk overdoing things.
  • Choose classics.
  • Avoid accessorizing much.
  • Color is good, as long as it's on tees/shirts teamed with Classic blue jeans. You could seal the look with loafers.
  • Don't accessorize much. Avoid too much layering, unless it's cold. We'd like to see those muscular arms or those drummer legs. However, overexposing is equally risqué!

Until next time!

My DIY cut-out/patch work tee

Hello people!

I'm sorry about not having posted since, well, Feb!! :x Just been busy with projects. Anyway, so we were last looking at DIY cut out tees. I went a step further and did a patch-work. Here's how--->

I made star shaped stencils and traced stars of different sizes onto a tee I was going to throw away before I got this bright idea. After cutting them out, I placed yellow colored cloth underneath, Used different color threads in the needle and the bobbin for a dash of drama, and married the two cloth pieces! ~~

Et voila!
You could even cut out the neck into a boat neck and insert a cord through the hem as a drawstring in order to completely transform the tee's silhouette.

Until next time!
