POTD #17 - Indulging in Blue & White

Ever since Diwali, I'm obsessed with the blue and white combo. It brings a fresh perspective to ethnic wear, and goes well on western wear and semi-formals too.

Wedding Wear Trendpick from Diwali

It's been over a week now, but I'm still not over the festival of sparkle, fairy lights and fashion. Diwali left us with some cool trends we could now use to stand out during the wedding season.

Trend #1: Blue and White + Silver

We've seen it on toile de jouy fabric, and willow patterned and wedgewood china crockery. And don't we just love the striking contrast between the two colors? This wedding season, add in chunky silver jewellery from your granny's closet and go desi chic with the blue and white trend.

Style tip- With the shade of blue, don't stick to the standard ;)

Trend #2: Spicy Red

Red is bold. Red is beautiful. Whatever you wear for your yaar ki shaadi, don't forget to glam up with a dash of red!

Style tip- The norm is to paint your lips bold, but try on the color on accessories for a change. ;)

Trend #3: Simmer in Shimmer

Diwali has always been the festival of all things sparkly and blingy. Big fat Indian weddings are not far behind, and to add to it the current season. It's the perfect time to go get your shimmery clothes, shoes and accessories out from the closet.

Style tip- Don't go too loud on shimmer just yet. Combine your colored solids with little shimmery pieces in gold, silver or pastels. :)

Trend #4: Go Royal

But don't go overboard. Make your look elegant and rich-looking, but definitely not over-the-top. In fact, if you want to do royal right, think minimalistic but classy, with statement pieces. Go in for polkis, kundan or even pearls to really nail it.

Style tip- Let your jewellery do the talking. Opt for a plain saree with a broad border, a statement ring and earrings, and you're good to go! :)

Trend #5: Ditch the Dupatta

I'm all in for a no-fuss look, especially at weddings. Here's a little inspiration for a dupatta-less ensemble.

Style tip- An embroidered shrug/bolero. A shimmery crop top. A lehenga. And that's how you do drop dread gorgeous! ;)

That's all for now. Until next time!
