Hey all!!!
The last post was about my all-time fav, DIY's!!! I'm soo in love with it, that I think I'm going to come up with more DIY posts soon!
Ok, so getting to this post, we're going to take a look into Temporary alterations, another chic way of recycling your outfits. We often only alter our garments when we’ve lost weight or
in some cases, gained. As a kid, I remember having my school uniforms made to a
larger size, and then having it altered to my size, and at the end of each
academic year as I would have grown a little, I’d only have to open up a line
of temporary stitching on the seams and the hemline. I was both fascinated and
convinced by the idea- it saved time (except for the 1st time that
it was made) and was more economical. As I grew, I started to use this in
various other ways and for various other reasons. I would play with the length of
my skirt by merely folding the hemline and fastening it with a slip stitch, or
do a couple lines of parallel vertical running stitches with an embroidery
thread over my sleeves which would act as a design element. I would also rouche
up my sleeves by pulling the threads and tying them into a bow.
Folding up jeans to convert them
into capris is common, and one can simply stitch up a fabric with floral print
on the inside, such that when folded up, it adds a girly touch to your denims.
Here, the key is to be good with basic stitches like slip stitch and running
stitch.
Until next time!!!
